PLEXIGLAS® Soundstop is a grade of acrylic specially developed for use in noise barriers. This material developed by the Performance Polymers Business Unit of Evonik Industries was first employed in 1980. PLEXIGLAS® Soundstop noise barriers are known worldwide as durable and environmentally sensitive designed for noise protection solutions which fascinate by individually adaptable, sustainable system solutions in different colour variations since over 30 years.
Transparent noise barriers make an effective yet aesthetic contribution towards reducing sound
emission. The reflection of sound at the PLEXIGLAS® Soundstop barrier considerably reduces the noise
level in the area behind the wall. As a transparent material, PLEXIGLAS® Soundstop offers a
clear view from both sides. In short, PLEXIGLAS® Soundstop with its transparency, light weight and formability fits harmoniously into our
environment.
Legal Basis for Transparent Noise Barriers In the European Union, standards EN 1793 and EN 1794 created a uniform standard for protection of the public against noise. In Germany ZTV-Lsw 06 (Additional Technical Regulations for the Design and Construction of Noise Barriers Along Roads) make even more stringent demands. Optical Variety: PLEXIGLAS® Soundstop is offered in seven standard colours. Special colours can be provided on request.
Freedom of Design: The simple and inexpensive mode of fabrication offered by the sheets such as thermoforming, cutting to size and drilling or surface treatment gives you practically unlimited creative scope.
Larger sizes: We offer PLEXIGLAS® Soundstop up to the following sizes: PLEXIGLAS® Soundstop XT in 2,000 x 8mm PLEXIGLAS® Soundstop GS CC in 2,000 x 5,000mm. Thesesheets can also be cut to other individual sizes. Safety: Transparent noise barriers help to

Sliver Retention: PLEXIGLAS® Soundstop GS CC is the only material approved acc. European regulations for use along bridges without an additional restraining system. The threads incorporated into the material reliably prevent fragments from falling down, e.g. after damage during a road accident.
Bird protection: Although highly transparent, PLEXIGLAS® Soundstop GS CC sheets with integrated black polyamide threads, or PLEXIGLAS® Soundstop XT Bird Guard with printed stripes on laminated films, are easily recognized by birds.
Transparency: The transparent grade has a light transmission of over 90 percent and is thus vastly superior to comparable sheets of glass or other transparent plastics such as polycarbonate. The measured value upon delivery is atleast 90 % and at least 88% after 30 years of outdoor exposure.

PLEXlGLAS® proves its extreme longevitywithout its surface becoming matte, without turning yellow or brittle, and without the colours fading. Excellent sound-insulation performance without obstructing the view. PLEXIGLAS® Soundstop meets all the safety requirements for noise control materials. The strength of the sheets plays a significant role when it comes to resisting impact as well as structural vibrations, e.g. on bridges.
